Udupi: A meeting was held at Taluk Office Hall on Friday December 3 to discuss the problems arising out after the removal of Surathkal toll plaza on NH – 66 and merging the toll fee there with Hejamady toll plaza.
The meeting discussed on how the merger of Surathkal toll with Hejamady toll is unscientific. It was decided in the meeting to hold a meeting at the State Government level and submit the proposal to the Central Government. It was decided to implement the concessional facility given to public vehicles at Hejamady toll.

Power, Kannada and Culture Minister V. Sunil Kumar, MLAs K. Raghupathi Bhat, Lalaji R. Mendon, State Backward Classes Commission Chairman Jayaprakash Hegde, Deputy Commissioner Kurma Rao M., Superintendent of Police Hakay Akshay Machindra, Additional Deputy Commissioner Veena and other officials were present.
Everything except the old rates at Hejamady and Suratkal toll and now the new rates at Hejamady. we the public just been fooled. What is the national toll rates for a particular distance. This is a NHAI project and on a National Highway. There must be a uniform rate for 2 lane, 4 lane and other width roads per 50 or 75 or 100 kms.
