Udupi: A Road Transport Authority meeting was held at DC office on November 27. On the occasion DC, Dr R Vishal said that public convenience should be given the top priority. On that basis new bus route will be decided.
“If necessary additional bus services will also be provided but there are certain limitations in this regard. Safety is the top priority. Profit making business by buses keeping lives in hand will not be tolerated”, he retierated.
The road transport department and the bus operators union will hold a route survey before starting new routes, it was decided.
He said the demand for hiking the vehicle life from 12 years to 15 years would be considered. The DC added that demand of humps near schools, will be considered and irregular buses will be punished.
Regarding, humps at national highway DC said no rule supports humps on national highways.
He said the land acquisition process to widen the NH stretch in the district is already over, but the compensation giving processes is pending.
On public demand auto stands and consideration of the pre-paid minimum fare after two kilometres will be considered.
