Udupi: Sri Vidyadheesha Thirtha Swamiji of Palimar Matt ascended Paryaya Peetha in the early hours of Thursday, January 18 with a grand procession and Paryaya Darbar.
The procession began at 3.30 AM from Jadukatte near Big Bazar through Court Road, K M Marg, Triveni Circle, Sanskrit College Road and culminated at Sri Krishna Matt in Car Street, which was witnessed by thousands of devotees from various parts of Karnataka and the rest of the country.
After the vibrant Paryaya procession, Sri Vidhyadheesha Thirtha Swamiji proceeded to the Kanakana Kindi where a Dharshan of Lord Krishna was conducted. Later he moved to the Sri Chandramouleshwara Temple and Ananteshwara Temple where he offered prayers.
The outgoing Pejawar Swamiji performed his last prayer, “Visarjana Pooja” as Paryaya Swamiji and soon after he received the incoming Paryaya Swamiji of Palimar Matt, Sri Vidyadeesha Thirtha Swamiji and later prayed for the success of his two year term at the Sri Krishna Matt.
Sri Vidyadheesha Thirtha Swamiji of Palimar Matt, born on May 13, 1956 in Shibaroor near Kateel in Dakshina Kannada, ascended the Paryaya Peetha. He completed his education in at Sri Durgaparameshwari High School, Kateel. He was administered into the religious order in 1979 at the Admar Matt by Vidyamanya Swamiji. He was appointed as the heir of the Palimar Matt. This is the second Paryaya term for Vidhyadheesha Thirtha Swamiji.
After ascending the Paryaya Peetha, the Paryaya Darbar programme was held at the Rajangana. Dr. Veerendra Heggade of Sri Dharmasthala, presided over the programme. Pramod Madhwaraj, District In-charge Minister and Minister for Fisheries, Sports and Youth Empowerment, Mohan Alva, Justice Dinesh Kumar PS High Court Judge, Laxman Nimbargi, Superintendent of Police and other dignitaries were present on the dais.
Sri Vishwavallabha Thirtha Swamiji of Sode Matt, Sri Vishwaprasanna Thirtha Junior Swamji of Pejawar Matt, Lakshivara Thirtha Swamiji of Shiroor Matt, and Sri Vidyasagara Thirtha of Kaniyoor Matt were also present.
