Two held for illegally selling rice meant for Annabhagya scheme

Karkala: As much as 50 tonnes of rice meant for distribution to the ration card holders under the Annabhagya scheme, that was being illegally transported, was seized by the police on Monday, October 15.

Based on a tip-off, the police immediately swung into action and seized the rice that was being illegally sold by a society belonging to Jodukatte Jeevandas Jain to grocery store owners in Car Street, Karkala.

Two people have been detained by the police in this regard and the auto being used to transport the rice was also confiscated.
