Udupi: In a bid to promote fisheries, a sea food park will be set up in Byndoor Taluk in the coming days.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, who presented a Budget 2023-24, announced Rs. 37,000 Crore to Fisheries. He wooed fishermen during the elections by giving top priority to the Coastal Fisheries Sector.
Stating that a subsidy of Rs. 50,000 each will be given to all kerosene-powered boats for installing petrol/diesel-based motor engines in the next two years, the Chief Minister has allocated Rs. 40 Crore in the Budget.
On behalf of the fishermen, the Chief Minister announced a number of schemes in the Budget, including raising the subsidy and diesel limit for fishermen to 1.5 lakh kilolitres to 2 lakh kilolitres, launching the deep-sea fishing Fisheries Scheme, issuing Kisan Credit Cards to fishermen, promoting deep sea fishing, and reducing duties to encourage the export of shrimp fish.
