Udupi: In the eastern part of the Baje dam area i.e. under the bridge at Puttige, there is enough water for a month. Social activist Ganesh Raj Saralebettu said that it is not right to supply drinking water to the people of Udupi on the lines of ration without properly utilizing it.
Giving water once in 5 days is not the right thing to do. He complained that artificial water scarcity has been created due to proper maintenance and non-pumping of water in the pits of the Swarna river to the maximum extent despite having water.
Hence, they demanded that the ration system should be abolished immediately and adequate drinking water should be supplied to the city dwellers.
