Udupi: The Kapu police have taken the husband of Kapu police station’s constable, Jyoti, into custody on charges of abetment to suicide.
Jyoti, 32, allegedly died by suicide and her husband Ravikumar, 35, claimed that she was found hanging dead when he was getting ready for his work.
The police are investigating the case based on a complaint filed by Jyoti’s mother, Devamma Vitlapur. They have found a diary in the quarters where Jyoti and her husband, Ravikumar, resided, in which she allegedly mentions Ravikumar’s suspicious nature as the reason for her extreme step.
Sources said that there are many reasons mentioned in the diary, the police have not disclosed. Ravikumar is a mechanic in KSRTC, both from Ilakal taluk in Bagalkot district. They were residing in police quarters.
According to sources, the couple argued on the night Jyoti took the extreme step.
