Udupi: Members of Monkey Spandana Yuva Sangha at Gujjadi village in Kundapur taluk of Udupi district are working towards protecting the environment by planting and taking care of more than 600 saplings.
Like-minded youths from the Monkey neighbourhood of Gujjadi village have formed the Spandana Yuva Sangha 10 years ago under the name Monkey-Gujjadi.
For the last 10 years, he has been distributing salaries to students, cleaning the environment, helping the disabled, distributing books and protecting the environment.In association with Hosadu KCDC and forest department, the members of Monkey Spandana Yuva Sangha have cooperated with the departmental officials by planting saplings in the vicinity of Hosadu Geru Garden and police station during the rainy season.
They have planted more than 120 saplings of bamboo, murina plant, chape saplings, mahogany, honge and other species.Spandana Yuva Sangha Manki-Gujjadi has been doing social work for the past 10 years. Raghu M, former president of Spandana Yuva Sangha, says that the work of planting saplings has been done for the last three years with a view to protect the environment.
