Udupi: House to House water supply scheme,1.67 lakh houses benefited

Udupi: Under the Central Government’s ambitious ‘House to House Gange’ scheme, 2,47,188 houses in the District have been targeted for tap connections and 1,67,701 lakh houses have already been covered. The remaining houses will be provided soon, said District In-Charge Minister S. Angara.

He was speaking after unfurling the National flag at the Republic Day celebrations held at Ajjarkadu District Stadium on Thursday January 26. “About Rs 38.96 Crore has been allocated for the conservation of flood-affected areas in the District. The total length of river bank is 8.56 kms. The river bank conservation work is being carried out along the length. Under the multi-village Drinking Water Scheme, Rs 1,600 Crore has been allocated for 1,904 rural habitations in 122 Villages under Karkala, Hebri and Kaup Taluks and the work is being carried out at a cost Rs 585 Crore for 59 Villages in Byndoor Assembly Constituency too,” he said.

“The construction of Hejamady Port has been taken up at a cost of Rs. 188.73 Crore. The construction of the second phase of the outer port at Maravanthe in Byndoor Taluk is being taken up at a cost of Rs. 8,500 lakh. The waterway from Hangarakatte to Manipal will be constructed at a cost of Rs. 2,500 lakh. He said in-principle approval has been obtained for development at a cost.
