Udupi: Inter-state thief arrested in City

Udupi: Police has arrested Moulali Jamadar, a resident of Dandeli Patel Nagar, an inter-State chain snatcher, in connection with a theft case in Udupi.

Prema Shenava, who was returning home after attending a Chandika Yagam at Kadiyali Mahishamardini Temple on October 3, snatched a gold chain weighing 50 grams from her neck at MGM College grounds.

A case has been registered at Udupi City Police Station in this regard.

Based on the CCTV footage and mobile call details, the police found that the accused had sold the gold ornaments at a gold shop at a Toll Naka in Dharawad. The accused has confessed of robbering gold ornaments from Dr. Prajna K. Srikanth’s house in 2021.

Police seized gold ornaments weighing 63 grams valued Rs. 3 Lakhs which was sold in Dharawad.

The accused has several theft cases registered against him at Dandeli Rural Police Station, Kaladagi Police Station in Bagalakote District, Alnavar Police Station in Dharawad and Madgaon and Ponda Police Station’s in Goa.

He was arrested in the case and is currently in judicial custody.
