Udupi: A man allegedly resorted to suicide by pouring petrol inside his car at Sachharipete Kudruttu in Mundkur Village of Karkala Taluk of the District on night of Wednesday January 25.
The deceased has been identified as 46-year-old Krishna Saphaliga, a resident of Kudruttu in Sachhharipete in Mundkur Village. He was car driver by profession. He sat inside his Maruti Omni car and poured petrol on himself and set himself on fire. It is said that Krishna was mentally disturbed.
The incident took place last night after he returned attending a mehendi function at his brother’s house.
Karkala Police and Fire Brigade Personnel have reached the spot and are investigating the incident.
