Karwar: Speaker Vishweshwara Hegde Kageri, who has been spreading awareness about electoral reforms across the State, revealed an interesting and surprising incident that came to his notice at a meeting in Kolar.

He was speaking at a meeting of the Arogya Raksha Samiti in Sirsi here on Tuesday October 17 citing the example of an incident from Kolar.

He said “When I went to Kolar, the Deputy Commissioner had invited me to the meeting to felicitate two voters who had turned a century old. So I asked how many voters are there in the District who have seen a century while honouring them. There are 400 people, the DC answered. Further the DC added the reasons behind people with such a long life are daily work, home meals, hardwork and village life.

When Assistant Commissioner R. Devaraju, who was next to Kageri was asked how many centenarians were there in Sirsi, he replied to Kageri that he had found a list of eight people from four taluks. The Speaker expressed happiness that the number of centenarians is increasing.
