Karwar: Yellapur BJP MLA Shivaram Hebbar’s son, Vivek Hebbar, joined the Congress party on Thursday at a party function in Mundagod with his supporters.
BJP MLA Hebbar has been maintaining distance from the party, and he is supporting the opposition Congress since he won the election from Yellapur constituency. He even abstained from voting during the Rajya Sabha election, held recently.
Hebbar was more inclined towards Congress instead of BJP. Rumors are also circulating that he may switch sides once the Lok Sabha election concludes. Around 3,000 supporters of Shivaram Hebbar are expected to join the party in today’s event, which is a big boost to the Congress party ahead of the Lok Sabha election and it may positively impact the party in the Uttar Kannada Lok Sabha election.
Vivek Hebbar joined the Congress in the presence of KPCC vice president Ivan D’Souza and Congress district president Sainath Gaonkar. Congress has fielded former Khanapur MLA Anjali Nimbalkar from this constituency.
