Davanagere: The state-of-the-art KSRTC bus terminal in Davanagere has been honored with the prestigious ‘Best Infrastructure’ regional award. Built under the Smart City initiative at a cost of ₹120 crore, the five-storey terminal spans 9 acres and offers a blend of modern transport facilities and amenities, including shopping centers, cinemas, and dining outlets.

Designed to accommodate 46 buses simultaneously, the terminal features nursing rooms for mothers, dedicated breakfast and lunch eateries, and ample parking space for 500 two-wheelers and 104 cars. This exemplary facility is regarded as one of the finest in North Karnataka and has contributed to Davanagere Smart City Limited securing its sixth regional award.

The project received ₹90 crore funding from the Smart City initiative and ₹30 crore from KSRTC. Revenue generated from the shopping mall, cinema, and other commercial establishments within the terminal is shared equally between the Smart City and KSRTC.

Veeresh Kumar, Managing Director of Davanagere Smart City Project Limited, highlighted the commuter-friendly features such as smart boards for navigation and dedicated nursing rooms for mothers, a feature widely appreciated by women.

Soumya Kamat, a commuter from Mumbai, praised the terminal for its hygiene, women-friendly restrooms, and convenience. She noted that the commercial establishments within the terminal make it easier for passengers to access essential goods.

The terminal reflects Davanagere’s growth over the past decade in commerce, medical services, and education, addressing the city’s growing infrastructure needs while enhancing public transport facilities.
