Woman Trafficked From Karnataka To Maharashtra, Prompt Police Action Ensues

 

In a distressing incident, a 30-year-old woman from Honnalli in Davanagere district, Karnataka, was reportedly trafficked and sold for ₹1 lakh to a man in Solapur, Maharashtra. The Karnataka police swiftly responded by filing an FIR against the three accused, as per the complaint lodged by the victim’s brother at the Honnalli police station.

Davanagere Police Superintendent Uma Prashant stated that the woman was deceived into going to Solapur instead of Shivamogga under the guise of work. The police are coordinating with authorities in Solapur and have dispatched a team to ensure the woman’s safe return.

The victim, a mother, had recently lost her husband and was supporting her family by working as a helper at reception centers. She used to accompany a group of women to various districts for work.

In his complaint, the victim’s brother narrated how she was misled about the destination and subsequently sold. The accused, identified as Roji Leena (43), Mallikarjun (47), and Lokesh (35), are from Bhadravati in Davanagere district.

Honnalli Police Inspector Mutturaj assured that the perpetrators would be apprehended soon, and Superintendent Uma affirmed regular communication with Solapur authorities to ensure the woman’s safe return.

The incident has led to discussions on stringent actions against human trafficking and ensuring the safety of vulnerable individuals.
