The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for Traffic and Road Safety, Alok Kumar, announced on his ‘X’ account that road accident fatalities in Karnataka have significantly declined in recent months. Comparing data from May, June, and July 2023 to the same months in 2024, there has been a noticeable reduction in deaths.
In May 2023, 1,201 fatalities were reported, whereas in May 2024, the number dropped to 1,012. Similarly, in June 2023, 1,059 people lost their lives, compared to 860 in June 2024. July 2023 saw 862 deaths, while July 2024 recorded 802 fatalities.
Mysuru city also experienced a decline in fatal accidents, except for May 2024. The city reported 21 fatalities in May 2024, up from 14 in May 2023. However, in June 2024, the number dropped to 10, down from 15 in June 2023. July 2024 saw 12 fatalities, compared to 14 in July 2023.
The ADGP’s statistics highlight ongoing efforts to improve road safety across the state.
