Hubli: In the recently announced 2024-25 annual plan by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Karnataka State has been allocated a total of 470 km for road development. The state has received significant funding to enhance its road infrastructure.
Union Minister for Food and Civil Distribution, Consumer Affairs, and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, has sanctioned ₹15 crore for the preparation of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the construction of a new long road. The central government, led by Prime Minister Modi, emphasizes the importance of road development and smooth traffic flow. Earlier, a proposal was submitted to Union Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for the construction of a bypass road, which has now been approved. The land acquisition process is already underway, and this project aims to fulfill a long-standing demand of the people in the area.
₹350 crore has been allocated for the construction of a 12 km long bypass for National Highway 52, passing through Navalgunda town under the Dharwad Lok Sabha constituency.
Additionally, ₹25 lakh has been earmarked for the preparation of a detailed project report for the elevated corridor extending from Hubli’s Kittur Channamma Circle to Bankapur Chowk Bidna Cross on Bangalore Road. Furthermore, ₹41 lakh has been allocated for the preparation of a detailed project report for the ring road from Kusugal to Narendra Cross.
