Namma Yatri Brings App-Based Autorickshaw Service to Hubballi-Dharwad
Soon, the residents of Hubballi-Dharwad will have the convenience of app-based autorickshaw rides, with fares regulated by the Regional Transport Office (RTO). After its success in Bengaluru, Namma Yatri, an aggregator platform, has rolled out a trial version of its service in Hubballi. The app has already launched in cities like Mysuru, Tumakuru, and Kalaburagi, receiving positive feedback in regions across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, West Bengal, and Odisha.
Around 500 autorickshaw drivers have already registered to offer the service in Hubballi, according to reports.
What sets Namma Yatri apart from popular platforms like Uber and Ola is its unique business model. Unlike Uber and Ola, which charge up to 20% commission on each fare, Namma Yatri operates on a “Direct-to-Driver” basis. This means that no commission is taken by the platform. The entire fare paid by passengers goes directly to the driver, benefiting them and their families.
While earlier attempts at introducing app-based autorickshaw aggregators and prepaid services in Hubballi-Dharwad faced challenges, it remains to be seen whether Namma Yatri can make a lasting impact in the region.
