DHARWAD: A 28-year-old man, Raghavendra Gaikwad, was stabbed in the back during a violent altercation at Kanthi Galli, near Murugha Mutt, on Thursday evening. He was rushed to KMC-RI in Hubballi, where he is undergoing treatment.

The attack reportedly stemmed from a money dispute. According to police, Malik, a mason by profession, had lent money to Mahantesh Gaikwad, Raghavendra’s brother. On Thursday, Malik visited Mahantesh’s residence along with a friend to demand repayment. However, with Mahantesh unavailable, Malik confronted Raghavendra instead.

An argument escalated quickly, and in a fit of rage, Malik pulled out a knife and stabbed Raghavendra, leaving the weapon lodged in his back. The two men then fled the scene, abandoning the injured victim.

Upon receiving the alert, ACP Prashant Siddanagoudar and other officers arrived promptly and arranged for Raghavendra’s immediate medical attention. A case has been filed at the Suburban police station, and a manhunt is underway to trace and apprehend Malik and his accomplice.

Police officials stated that the motive appears to be a personal financial dispute, and they are using local surveillance and informants to track the suspects.
