Ex-CM Bommai Claims Valmiki Corporation Funds Used for Election Funding

Basavaraj Bommai (3)

Gadag: The corruption encouraging and corruption-ridden government was in Karnataka. Since the entire Cabinet was plunged into corruption, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has lost the morality to seek the resignation of a minister, said former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai.

Addressing a news conference here on Thursday, he said the Congress leaders talk high on the upliftment of SC/ST communities. The money that was meant for those communities had been grossly looted. The money has been transferred to the benami bank accounts, he charged.

During the election, the money has been transferred to Telangana co-operative society. While Minister Nagendra refutes of giving the oral instructions, the Corporation MD claims that his signature has been forged. The scam would not have taken place without their involvement. Rupees 94 crore wouldn’t have been looted without their blessings. The minister concerned should have resigned by this time. When it came to Eshwarappa’s case, both Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar shouted in high pitch but now both of them have no morality, he said.

He said the case has been referred to the CID but it cannot inquire against the sitting minister. So, impartial investigation was not possible. The scam must be referred to the CBI as misappropriation above Rs 10 crore must be enquired, he said.

Due to the involvement of the government and bank it must be probed by the CBI. This money has gone for the election funding. The CM must resign for an impartial probe, Bommai urged.

Home Minister Dr Parameshwara said this case was different that of Eshwarappa’s case. But this case was much serious than Eshwarappa case as irregularities has happened in the corporation and an accountant has committed suicide. Without this, the case would not have come to light. The deceased officer has revealed where all the money has gone. Even without the death note, Eshwarappa has given resignation.

Must understand Modi’s vision

Commenting on Modi’s statement on the Mahatma Gandhi, Bommai opined that first they must understand in what vision Modi has made that statement. Modi belongs to Gujarat and what he meant was that Gandhi had been placed behind the screen and this Gandhi family came to the fore. After the country’s independence, only the name of Nehru had been heard everywhere and the Mahatma Gandhi went into the oblivion, he said.
