Trichy: A six-member gang, including three known rowdies, was arrested by Trichy district police for robbing a truck driver from Karnataka of ₹20,000 at the No. 1 Toll Gate on Saturday. The arrested individuals are T Karthick, 33, T Gowthamkumar, 30, and K Raja, 30, along with their accomplices K Krishnarao, 45, M Ganeshkumar, 27, and R Iniyavan, 28, all from Bikshandarkovil in Mannachanallur Taluk, Trichy.
The gang targeted N Sivakumar, 32, from Hubli, Karnataka. According to the Kollidam police, Sivakumar was driving his truck with assistant Chandrasekar when the gang, trailing behind, collided with the truck. Upon stopping to address the collision, Sivakumar was surrounded, threatened, and robbed of ₹20,000 and his mobile phone by the gang, who claimed to be notorious rowdies.
The police responded promptly to the complaint, arrested the suspects, and recovered the stolen cash, mobile phone, three iron swords, and a car. The accused were presented in court and remanded in judicial custody.
