Gonikoppal’s Dasara Preparations Hit Roadblock
Gonikoppal: With only seven days remaining for the much-anticipated Dasara Janotsava in Gonikoppal, concerns are mounting as the tender for constructing the auditorium has yet to be finalised. This delay has left organisers worried about completing essential preparations in time.
The District Collector has already invited tenders for the project, and Kullachanda Pramod Ganapathi, President of the Kaveri Dasara Committee, was present at the related meeting. The festival, which has been held for 45 years at the local government senior primary school grounds, is known for its 9-day cultural programme.
In previous years, local and regional volunteers managed the construction of temporary seating, electricity, and sound systems, accommodating up to 2,000 attendees. However, this year’s delay has raised concerns about the road conditions, street lighting, and drainage around the venue.
Narayanaswamy Naidu, leader of the Civil Struggle Committee, emphasised the need for proper arrangements to accommodate the thousands of visitors expected to attend. He stressed that the current state of infrastructure could cause major issues for the event.
Members of the Dasara Committee are being urged to take swift action to resolve the pending issues and ensure that the festival proceeds smoothly.
