In Channarayapatna taluk, Hassan district, three family members—Srinivas (43), Shwetha (36), and Nagashri (13)—were found dead on Thursday, with initial reports suggesting suicide. The family, residents of Kerebeedhi, had been missing since last Tuesday. They are believed to have jumped into the Hemavathy canal.

The bodies of Srinivas and Shwetha have been recovered from the canal near Madapura by Fire and Emergency Services personnel. The search for Nagashri’s body is still ongoing. Srinivas, a car driver, and Shwetha, a private school teacher, were reportedly struggling with significant financial difficulties, including outstanding loans, which may have contributed to their drastic actions.

Relatives had reported the family’s disappearance to the Channarayapatna police station before their bodies were found. SP Mohammed Sujitha visited the scene, and Nuggehalli police have initiated a case to rule out any foul play.
