Hubballi: In a gruesome incident, a father, who came to shield his son from an angry gang ended up losing his life to the attack, at K B Nagar in Hubballi, late Monday evening.
The deceased is Tirupathi Veerapura (45). It is said that his son Srinivas was gheraoed by a gang of young men who alleged him of bike lifting. When the gang brandished lethal weapons at his son, Tirupathi sensed trouble and rushed to the rescue of his son. However, Tirupathi fell victim to the wrath of the gang that fled the spot after attacking. A fatally injured Tirupathi was rushed to KIMS Hospital, but he breathed his last there. Tirupathi was working as a car driver in Dharwad Municipal Corporation.
