Hubballi: “Incidents of online fraud are on the rise across the nation and the state. “The volume of fraudulent activities on social media platforms related to bank accounts and mobile numbers is growing,” stated Police Commissioner Santosh Babu. During discussions with journalists, he underscored that the Hubballi-Dharwad Cyber Cell records approximately 300 cases annually, and this pattern has been consistent over the past three years. When considering other police stations, the city collectively registers around 400 cases. Apprehending individuals engaged in online scams prove challenging, given their tendency to operate across various states or even countries. Santosh Babu advised against placing trust in individuals from different regions for account-related matters. Stressing the importance of preventing unknown individuals from making deposits, he highlighted that such measures would considerably mitigate cybercrimes.”
