Hubballi: Basavraj Deva, pontiff of Shrirevanasiddeshwara Mutt while speaking at a press meet in Hubballi said, “both the state and central governments must immediately take a decision on crucial Kalasa-Banduri and Mahadayi water projects. Otherwise we will demand for separate state for north Karnataka”.
He further said that both the governments at the state and the centre are not taking Kalasa-Banduri and Mahadayi projects seriously. “Agitations have been carried out from last three months. Neither the centre nor the state government is concerned about the people of this region”, he said.
“The state government led by the all party delegation must meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi again and find a solution to the row. If the injustice continues against north Karnataka then they will have to be ready to face protests for separate state for north Karnataka”, he warned.
The protests over the implementation of Kalasa-Banduri and Mahadayi river projects, has crippled normal life in north Karnataka.
People from the region have been demanding for a separate North Karnataka state as the Government continues to neglect them by not taking any firm stand on the development of backward regions of North Karnataka region nor solving crucial issues like Kalasa Banduri.
