A death initially deemed accidental in Itaga village, Chittapur taluk, has been confirmed as a murder. Kamanna Doddha Manmanta, 35, was found dead at his house entrance on July 5. Initially believed to have fallen from the roof, the death was treated as accidental and Kamanna was cremated.

Kamanna’s mother, Parvathi, later raised doubts, prompting a police investigation. The exhumation and subsequent postmortem revealed foul play, leading to a murder charge on August 23.

The motive was a property dispute involving a farm sale worth ₹56 lakh. Kamanna had deposited the proceeds, excluding his brother Suresh Doddha Manmanta from any share, resulting in the fatal conflict. Suresh has been arrested and remanded to judicial custody.

Kalaburagi District Superintendent of Police Addur Srinivasalu, Additional SP Srinidhi, and Shahabad DySP Shankar Gowda Patil led the investigation.
