A heartbreaking incident in Jevargi town, Kalaburagi district, has claimed the life of a 14-year-old girl studying in the 8th grade. The teenager reportedly ended her life after allegedly being harassed by a 21-year-old man.

The accused, identified as Mahaboob from Basaveshwara Nagar, Jevargi, is said to have persistently pressured the girl to enter into a romantic relationship. Based on a formal complaint by the victim’s family, authorities apprehended the suspect on Saturday night and have registered a case against him.

In response to the incident, members of the Akhil Bharat Veerashaiva Mahasabha staged a protest at Ankadeshwar Circle in Jevargi, demanding justice and action against such acts. State Secretary Rajshekhar Sahu Siri and other key leaders, including Siddu Sahu Angadi and Basavaraj Patil Naribol, spearheaded the demonstration.

The protest saw participation from various prominent individuals, such as Shanmukhappa Hiregowda, Sharanabasava Kalla, Ravi Kolakoora, Gurugouda Malipatila, and others. Community leaders from diverse backgrounds, including Mallikarjun Advani, Abdul Rouf Hawaldar, and Eshwar Hipparagi, joined forces to express solidarity with the victim’s family and condemn the harassment.

This tragic event has sparked widespread outrage, emphasizing the urgent need to address gender-based violence and ensure the safety of young girls.
