Kalaburagi: In a disturbing incident of moral policing, a 21-year-old man was brutally assaulted by a group of unidentified individuals in MB Nagar for the simple act of dropping a female colleague home on his motorcycle.

The victim, Bylappa, a nursing staffer at Shabdi Hospital, was reportedly helping a woman co-worker return home after she failed to find an auto-rickshaw. While en route, a group of men allegedly intercepted them and launched a violent attack on Bylappa.

He sustained serious injuries and is currently undergoing treatment at Kalaburagi District Hospital.

Following a formal complaint filed by the victim, MB Nagar Police have booked a case under several sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), including Sections 189(2), 191(2), 115(2), 118(1), 310(2), 352, 351(2), and 190. Police confirmed that the case is under active investigation and efforts are being made to identify and apprehend the attackers.

The incident has sparked concern over rising instances of vigilante behavior and moral policing in the city, prompting calls for stricter enforcement of law and protection of personal freedoms.
