Min Eshwarappa distributes garbage disposal vehicles to 50 GPs

Ballari: Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister K. S. Eshwarappa on Monday June 7 distributed garbage disposal vehicles purchased under the Clean India Mission (Rural) Scheme. The minister distributed garbage disposal vehicles to 50 gram panchayats at a function held at the city’s stadium.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Eshwarappa said that a large number of solid waste management units have been set up in all districts of the State. The Solid and Liquid Waste Management Action Project has been approved for 237 Gram Panchayats be(GP) in Ballari and Vijayanagar districts. So far, 172 village panchayats have been provided vehicles, while the rest will get the vehicles in the next 10 days, he added.

According to the Guidelines under the Clean Bharat Mission (Rural) Scheme, an average of Rs. 20 lakh has be granted to every village panchayat, he informed.

Corona in villages under control

Minister Eshwarappa said that the Coronavirus cases in rural areas are declining day by day due to the increasing awareness in rural areas on Covid and the effective working of rural task force. It is heartening to see that even rural people are admitting themselves to Covid care centres.

100% garbage collection in all 237 GPs by June 2021

In all 237 gram panchayats of the district a proper facility to collect dry waste will be made by June 2021. Ballari district will be the only second district after Kodagu to do so, said Zilla Panchayat (ZP) Chief Executive Officer K. R. Nandini.

MP Y. Devendrappla, MLAs Karunakar Reddy, Somashekhar Reddy, K. C. Kondayya, B. Nagendra, NAREGA Commissioner and special officer of Vijayanagar district Anirudh Shravan and ZP Project Officer Janakiram were present on the occasion.
