Ballari: The Arasikere Police in the Harapanahalli taluk of the Ballari district registered an FIR against former labour minister T Parameshwar Naik and his son Bharat for organising a large grand wedding ceremony and violating all the Standard Operating Procedures (SoPs) issued by the government, under pressure from the public.
The FIR was registered based on a complaint lodged by local Tahsildar Nagaveni.
Bharat, the groom is the first accused and his father, former minister Naik is the second accused.
Former chief minister Siddaramaiah, health minister B Sreeramulu, former DCM Dr G Parameshwar, Priyank Kharge, and other leaders were in attendance at the wedding.
None of the guests wore masks nor were they following the social distancing norms. A video of these violations went viral on social media causing a major embarrassment for the state government and the Ballari district administration.
The wedding was reportedly held in Lakshmipura, former minister Naik’s hometown.
Meanwhile, Naik informed that a huge number of people turned up as the ceremony was held in his native village. “I had appealed to the people not to come in large numbers.” he clarified.
