Bidar : North MLA Rahim Khan said that on January 21, Ambigara Chowdaiah has shown that he is different and one of the greatest vachanakaras with his stern and brave vachanas.
He was speaking after inaugurating the ‘Nijasharana Ambigara Chowdaiah Jayantyotsava’ programme organised jointly by the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, and Department of Kannada and Culture, Bidar, at Channabasava Pattadevar Rangamandira here on Saturday January 21.
“Just as all Sharanas have shown us the way to walk on the right path, Ambigara Chowdaiah has also shown us the way. We should walk on the path laid down by him, he said, adding that our life will be worthwhile only when we treat everyone equally and not consider anyone superior or inferior in life, he noted.
Speaking on the occasion, Lecturer in Kannada at St. Paul’s Degree College, Bidar Jagannatha Muthangi said that Chowdaiah became a rebel vachanakara through his stern vachanas against the evil practices, customs and inequalities prevalent in the 12th Century.
“If other vachanakaras used the signature of their favourite God for the vachanas, he became great vachanakara by using his own signature for vachanas,” he said and added that more than 280 vachanas have been written by Ambigara Chowdaiah.
“If the linguistic style of the vachanas written by him is observed in depth, it is clear that there is no one who can match his vachanas,” he stressed.
