Bidar: Writer and Social Worker Sangamesh N. Javadi said that the Maharashtra Government’s proposal to release Rs. 200 Crore in the Budget by announcing the “Basaveshwara Economic Development Mahamandal” for the upliftment of Lingayat religion is a welcoming development.

Speaking to mediapersons in the city, he said we congratulate the Government of Maharashtra for winning the hearts of the entire Lingayat community and all those who are working day and night for the upliftment of Lingayat religion.

We pray that the Government of Maharashtra will do more to develop Basava philosophy on a global scale, including the status, recognition of Lingayat religion, reservation and so on.

Similarly the Central government should also celebrate Basava Jayanti at the National Level. Basavakalyan and Kudalasangama areas should be declared as international tourist destinations.

There is a need to take steps for the all-round development of the region, including that Basavakalyan should be declared as the District headquarters.

Apart from this, the dignitaries who are constantly fighting for the recognition of Lingayat religion and there is a systematic attempt to insult, abuse the Sharanas who are propagating Basava Philosophy. Even on Facebook, WhatsApp, Messenger, there is a systematic act of ridicule by some people. This is a condemnable move,
It is a matter of shame in today’s modern society which harms the work of democracy and is being done continuously due to some manipulations, he alleged.

The monuments of the Sharanas are scattered here and there. We are also seeing what is being destroyed and we strongly condemn this. The State government should immediately work to prevent all incidents.
The injustice done to the Sharanas should be unearthed and those responsible for the conspiracy and misdeeds should also be arrested.

Similarly, legal action should be taken against evil forces. Sangamesh N Javadi has urged the State government to work towards curbing the miscreants at the earliest in this regard.
