Bidar: Congress leader Shashikumar Police Patil announced that he would file his nomination papers as a rebel Congress candidate from Bidar assembly constituency on April 13.
“I have been associated with the Congress for 20 years and had applied to the party high command for a ticket from Bidar assembly constituency. “I have decided to contest as a rebel candidate as the party leaders ignored me,” hegde said at a press conference in the city on Tuesday.
Progressive thinkers and leaders of pro-Dalit pro-Kannada organisations have openly supported me. On April 13 at 11.30 am, a special puja will be performed at Bhavanimathe Mandir near Khadi Bhandara in the city and a bullock cart will be taken out in a procession to the deputy commissioner’s office to file his nomination papers.
Kalyana Karnataka Nirmana Sena founder president Swamidas Kempenor, Bhimavada Sena’s Kalyanrao Bhosle, Madara Channayya Struggle Committee’s Ramesh Kattithugaonva, Dalit minority leader Kanteppa Gumme were present.
