Bidar: Two people drowned in Karanja river due to heavy rains

Bidar: The incident in which two men died in the Karanja River due to the heavy rains that fell on Sunday June 11 took place in the middle of Kuntesirsi-Marura Villages on Monday June 12.

The dead persons were Tukarama Lakshmana Wadekar (33) of Bhovi Samaja of Jalasingi Village of Humanabad Taluk and Tippanna Vishwanath Dotare (40) of Ghatabora Village who had gone to Joladapaka Village of the Taluk for last rites.

Deceased Tukarama Wadekar and Tippanna Dotare were on their way to their native village on a two-wheeler after performing the last rites of their relatives in Jodapaka Village on Sunday June 11, when they were swept away by the water that rushed into the Karanja River due to continuous rain. The incident took place when a two-wheeler was crossing the river through a small bridge built across the river between Kuntesirsi-Marura.

Since Monday June 12 morning, the police and fire brigade have searched the river and removed the dead body and the two-wheeler. Deputy Tahasildar Gopal Hipparagi visited the place and conducted inspection. A case has been registered in this regard at the rural police station.
