Bidar: Officials have reported that the Karanja reservoir is almost at its maximum capacity due to continuous and widespread rainfall in the upper areas. If it reaches its peak level, there is a possibility of immediate water release from the reservoir, which may cause flooding in the villages downstream.
To ensure safety, residents living in the areas downstream are urged not to venture into the river for activities such as washing clothes, swimming, or watering cattle. The water release could potentially pose risks to people’s lives and properties. The Executive Engineer from the Bidar Karnataka Irrigation Corporation Limited emphasized the need for precautions to safeguard the properties of minor irrigation and other departments situated in the riverbed. It is crucial for the public to stay vigilant and avoid any unnecessary activities in the river until the situation is under control.
