Bidar: In a shocking incident at the Devala Ganagapura police station in Afzalpur taluk, Bidar, two individuals, Lal Ahmed and Narhari Pated, were allegedly subjected to verbal abuse and extortion demands by a police officer while attempting to verify a passport. The victims visited the police station to check the passport of an individual named Mallikarjuna when the ordeal unfolded.

According to the victims, Lal Ahmed initially reviewed their documents as part of the passport verification process. However, things took a dark turn when the police officer, identified as Lal Ahmadan, reportedly demanded Rs 1,500 from them in exchange for completing the verification. Narhari Pated and Lal Ahmed vehemently refused to comply with this unlawful request.

In response to their refusal, Lal Ahmadan is accused of resorting to physical intimidation and verbal abuse. Witnesses claim that he grabbed Narhari Pated by the collar, threatened her, and continued to demand the extortion money. The victims maintain that they were unjustly targeted, harassed, and coerced into paying a bribe.

In the wake of this disturbing incident, Lal Ahmed and Narhari Pated have taken matters into their own hands by filing a formal complaint against the police officer, Mallikarjuna. They are calling for swift and decisive action to be taken, demanding Mallikarjuna’s immediate suspension from service.

Despite the passage of several weeks since the incident, there has been no official response or action from higher authorities in Bidar, leaving many concerned about the pursuit of justice and the alleged corruption within the local police force.
