Kalaburagi: In a tragic incident, a boy from Kalaburagi Town was killed when a tum tum vehicle carrying labourers fell into a canal passing across the main road leading to Chigaralli on the outskirts of the Town.
The deceased has been identified as Adilshahi (14), the younger son of Shafiullah Dakhani, a resident of Yadrami and District President of The Green Army.
Since the school was closed on Sunday November 13, he had gone for cotton cultivation with the women in the lane. The boy, Adil Shahi, was sitting in a tum-tum vehicle along with eight other women labourers. The vehicle that had four to five bags full of cotton, overturned on the evening of Sunday and fell into a nearby canal. The sugarcane tractor drivers on the same route immediately threw their ropes into the canal and saved the lives of eight labourers.
However, Adil Shahi sunk in, eyewitnesses said. On the evening of Sunda, a group of youth who had descended into the canal to find the boy had been searching for him throughout the night but could not find him. The body of the boy was found around 11.00 am on Monday November 14
