Kalaburagi: ‘Sale of liquor prohibited in region’

Kalaburagi: Voting will be held on May 10 and counting of votes will be held on May 13 in the background of Assembly General Election-2023.

On this occasion, the District Collector and District Magistrate Yashwant V. banned the sale and consumption of alcohol in Kalaburagi City and District. An order to this effect has been issued.

For the purpose of polling on May 10, 2023 (days within 48 hours of the close of voting) i.e. from 6.00 pm on May 8, 2023 to 12 midnight on May 10 and for the counting of votes on May 13 from 6.00 am on May 13 to 6.00 am on May 14 Kalaburgi City, all kinds of liquor sale, storage and consumption are prohibited throughout the district, besides this, the Deputy Commissioner has issued an order declaring ‘dry’ days with the closure of bars, clubs, and bar restaurant and Liquor Depot (KSBCL).

This order has been issued under Section 135 (c) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 and Rule-10 (b) of the Karnataka Excise (Charters and General Provisions) Rules, 1967 in order to maintain law and order in Kalaburgi District.

In his order the DC stated that if the instructions in this order are violated, they will be subjected to punishment under Section 135C (2) and (3) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951.
