Koppal: Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Shivappa Subedar on Thursday November 24 visited the house of five gender minorities at K. Bodur Tanda under Bijakal Gram Panchayat limits and handed over a special category jobcards of MGNREGA Scheme to enable them to lead a dignified life in the society by participating in the Mahatma Gandhi NREGA Scheme and getting wages paid.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that gender minorities should also come into the mainstream of society. Recently, three gender minorities have been selected as teachers. So when a survey of gender minorities was conducted in the Taluk, it was found that there were five houses of gender minorities in this Thanda, who were also persuaded to participate in the Mahatma Gandhi NREGA scheme and were also given NREGA job cards by Bijakal Gram Panchayat.
Sharanamma of Basapattana Village in Gangavathi Taluk has already set an example for gender minorities across the State by working under NREGA and leading a dignified life. He said the role of Government officials is very important in delivering government schemes to all. “Even after 16 years of implementation of MGNREGA, gender minorities have not participated in the scheme. He said that action is being taken by conducting a survey in Kushtagi Taluk with special priority. He said that by participating in the scheme, Rs. 30,900 will be credited to the bank account for 100 days of wage work.
