Koppal: MLA Amaregowda Patil Bayyapura said that the habit of reading books at home among children is decreasing. Now that the world has improved, the taste of reading from mobile phones has caught up and reading books has diminished.

He was speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed auditorium (Sabha Bhavana) under the Kalyana Karnataka Development Scheme for the years 2014-2015 and 2020-21 at the Government First Grade College here on Monday November 7. He said, “Smartphones are used by most people. It may be good or bad, but one cannot deny that mobile medium is powerful. There is a lot of obsession over mobile phones, yet one should limit its usage. It is said that even women who teach children at home are engrossed in mobile phones and if the child insists, they give them a mobile phone. The MLA called for reducing the use of smartphones at home and inculcating a habit of reading books.

He opined that respect for the country can be earned only when one reads the history of the past.
