Bengaluru: The Centre constituted the Law Commission of India on Monday November 7 after a four-year break and former Karnataka High Court Chief Justice Rituraj Awasthi was appointed to serve as its Chairman.
Justice K. T. Sankaran, a former judge of the Kerala High Court, was also selected by the Center as a member of the Commission, along with Professors D. P. Verma, Anand Paliwal, Raka Arya, and M. Karunanithi.
Since former Supreme Court justice Justice B. S. Chauhan retired in 2018, the law panel has been vacant.
Justice Rituraj Awasthi served as a judge on the Allahabad High Court before retiring in July as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court.
