Dharwad: Despite the challenging weather conditions, members of the Karnataka State Disabled People’s Federation gathered in front of the Dharwad District Commissioner’s Office to stage a protest, expressing their concerns and demands. Undeterred by the adverse climate, the protestors demonstrated their unwavering commitment to seeking positive changes and meaningful solutions for the disabled community.

The protest was targeted against the government’s decision in the northern part of Dharwad district, where the demonstrators demanded free bus passes, the establishment of a separate secretariat, and the creation of a separate corporation catering to the special needs of individuals with disabilities. The protestors stressed the urgency for the state government to address these vital demands.

Latha Kumari, the director leading the federation, has been recognized for her exceptional leadership and commendable efforts. The protestors emphasized that if the state government fails to respond adequately, the disabled community will engage in an intense struggle statewide. The demonstration underscored the importance of prioritizing the needs and rights of disabled citizens in the region.
