Chikkamagaluru: Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council B. K. Hariprasad has lodged a complaint with the Chief Election Commissioner of the Central Election Commission seeking immediate transfer of the Deputy Commissioner the Superintendent of Police, who are also the District Returning Officers who are presently functioning in the District, to conduct free and fair elections in the District.

On March 10, a copy of his complaint to the Election Commission of India (ECI) was made available in newspapers.
Chikkamagaluru Deputy Commissioner and District Returning Officer K. N. Ramesh and District Police Chief Uma Prashanth are suspected to have close links with some politicians and leaders of the ruling party.

In view of this, it is suspected that free and fair elections cannot be held in the District. He urged the Election Commission to take steps to transfer the two officials, immediately.
