Chikkamagaluru: Condemning the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from the Lok Sabha seat and the BJP-led State Government’s decision to include the Muslim community in the economically weaker section and take away four percent reservation, the Congress Kisan Cell unit formed a human chain at Hanumanthappa Circle in the City.
Speaking on the occasion, State Convenor C. N. Akmal said, “If Rahul Gandhi is not there in the Lok Sabha, we will lose. We need him. Is it right to disqualify him?,” he asked.
He alleged that the Bommai-led BJP Government in the State was trying to do low-level politics by merely snatching away Muslim reservation.
Leader K. Mohammed said that a decision has been taken in the Cabinet Committee to scrap the 4 percent reservation for minorities. He alleged that the BJP Government had shown stupidity by doing this for the sake of vote bank. “Don’t do anything that will provoke the community. We will fight to get our rights,” he said.
