Chikkamagaluru: District Congress leaders and activists staged a protest in front of the Gandhi statue in Chikkamagaluru against the Central Government’s decision to revoke Rahul Gandhi’s Membership of Parliament.
Protesters and Activists gathered in front of the Gandhi statue in the City and shouted slogans against the Central Government on Thursday March 30.
Speaking on the occasion, Congress leader M. L. Murthy said, “The Central Government is indulging in vendetta politics. The Central Government’s investigative agencies are being misused to target Congress party functionaries. Why are the houses of BJP workers not being attacked?,” he asked.
The BJP is looting the State, he said and questioned whether the investigating agencies were not visible and alleged that Rahul Gandhi was being silenced by cancelling his Membership of Parliament as a result of questioning the lapses in the Central Government.
After the BJP Government started to rule at the Centre, it has become impossible for the common man to live.
Price rise is constantly taking place. If people remain silent in such an atmosphere Democracy will be destroyed and people should wake up in this regard, he said.
“The Central Government is trying to silence Rahul Gandhi’s voice and the Congress party will not bow down to any of this,” he said.
