Chikkamagaluru: Man beaten to death for stealing mobile phone

Chikkamagaluru: In a shocking incident, a man who stole a mobile phone was crushed to death with a cement brick near Maravanji Village in Kadur Taluk of Chikkamagaluru District.

The deceased has been identified as 60-year-old Mohan of Malledevarahalli Village in Kadur Taluk. Kenchappa of Nagagondanahalli in Kadur Taluk is the accused. When Mohan Kumar tried to snatch Kenchappa’s mobile phone and money from him at Maravanji Circle Kenchappa allegedly smashed his head with a cement brick and fled.

Locals saw the man in a critical condition in the morning and informed the Police. He died on the way while the Police were taking him to the Public Hospital for treatment.

Rathnamma, a relative of the deceased, has lodged a complaint with the Kadur police stations. Kadur Police, who took over the investigation, examined the CCTV footage, scanned the spot and took the accused Kenchappa into custody and remanded him to judicial custody.
