Chikkamagaluru: The newly constructed National Highway from Mudigere Hand Post to Kottigehara has been potholed within a year, inviting accidents.
About 13 kilometre long new road has been constructed from Mudigere Hand Post to Kottigehara passing through Villupuram-Mangaluru National Highway and potholes have developed at Chakkamakki, Hebbige, Baggasagodu, Sabbenahalli, Horatti and Bidarahalli. There is a possibility of vehicles getting involved in accidents while avoiding potholes on the highway and the highway authority needs to take the initiative to close the potholes on the road.
Within a year of the construction of the highway, the public is angry that the potholes have appeared.
Chintamani Kamble, a junior engineer with the National Highways Authority of India ( NHAI), said, “The matter did not come to my notice.” He said steps will be taken to repair the Highway within this week.
