Chikkamagaluru: H. D. Thammaiah, who recently quit the BJP and joined the Congress, showed his strength by holding a bike rally in the City along with a large number of his supporters.

H. D. Thammaiah and others were travelling from Karthikere on the outskirts of the City in an empty vehicle with a large number of party workers.

Along the way, Thammaiah received a grand welcome from the activists. Fireworks were burst at Hiremagaloor Circle. Activists showered flowers on Thammaiah through a JCB at Azad Park.

After paying floral tributes to the statue of Gandhi, the rally passed through Bolarameshwara Devalaya, K. M. Road, I. G. Road, KEB Circle, Basavanahalli Main Road via Hanumanthappa Circle and from there via M. G. Road, only to culminate at the Congress Office.

Activists shouted slogans in favour of Thammaiah.

Meanwhile, speaking to mediapersons, Thammaiah lashed out at MLA C. T. Ravi for criticising him. “It was not me who betrayed the Party. I am going out of the Party. Let him touch his soul and tell us how the MLAs have been treated in Mudigere and other constituencies,” he said.

In 2008, Former Chief Minister B. S. Yediyurappa won the seat. Yediyurappa won again in 2018. In 2004, he accepted the Kuruba community and won. Now he forgets all that and speaks of treachery,” he said, lashing out at CT Ravi.

Yediyurappa, Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Former Prime Minister Deve Gowda are the assets of this State. When I was in the Party, I had advised him not to talk about these three. Let him say that he has not received help from Yediyurappa and has not won by mentioning his name,” he challenged C.T. Ravi.
