Hassan: As an answer to the man-tusker fight, the Forest Department officers in Hassan have decided to have drone in place to track the movement of elephants causing trouble in human habitats.

On Tuesday, the officers used a camera to trace the movement of three tuskers that have caused panic in villages of Salagame hobli in Hassan taluk for a week now. The camera attached to a drone can go up to 150-200 metres high from the surface level.

The drone went in the air for about 75 minutes and surveyed 8 sq km of area, however, the three rogue tuskers could not be traced.

The terror of these tuskers that have been separated from their herd has left the villagers of Chakenahalli, Kelavarthi, Haruvanahalli and surrounding villages in fear. The residents are mostly confined to their homes in the evenings.
